Sie unterscheiden sich von Reed-Schaltern, die durch die Verwendung beweglicher mechanischer Teile eine ähnliche Funktion bieten, sowie von linearen oder kompassartigen Festkörpergeräten, die einen variablen Ausgang liefern, der die Stärke und/oder Ausrichtung eines angelegten Magneten angibt Feld.
