Die Datenkomprimierung sorgt für verbesserte Übertragungsgeschwindigkeiten und weniger Speicherplatz. Einige CODECs bieten eine Auflösung von bis zu 32 Bit und bis zu sechs bzw. acht Analog-Digital- bzw. Digital-Analog-Wandler.
