COB-Beleuchtung kombiniert zahlreiche LED-Chips auf einem Substrat und nimmt dadurch viel weniger Platz ein als eine herkömmliche Anordnung von SMD-LEDs. LED-Engines kombinieren SMD-LEDs mit Widerständen, um ein gebrauchsfertiges Licht zu erzeugen.
